Friday Movie Night - Default Edition

It's Friday Night! Party Time!   Time to relax, put your feet up on the couch, lay back, and watch some detailed videos on economic policy!

Tonight's focus is on consumer debt and predatory lending.

With the Obama administration talking about student loans and credit cards, I thought an ode to Americans for Fairness in Lending organization and related documentaries would be in order.

Here is the start of Default: The Student Loan Documentary and it appears they don't have enough money to finish the film.

Below is a great Consumer action strategy. Everyone sue these predatory lenders in small claims court....at once.

How to Beat the Bank

There is also a book, The Student Loan Scam, exposing the beyond belief debt of college. I find it horrific for corporations are also offshore outsourcing the jobs, so there is no guarantee one can have stable income with a college degree, yet now graduates are also 6 figures in debt.

Here are some more interviews on predatory student loans.

Financial Journalist David Cay Johnston on Predatory Student Loans

Boo hoo hoo. The documentary which used to be online for free you must now pay for (on consumer debt) although one can rent Maxed Out easily from any library. I also want to point to a Friday Night Video rerun, Frontline's very in depth investigative documentary The History of the Credit Card.
