Weekly Unemployment Claims Show No Job Growth

Another week, another bit of bad news for workers and the stagnant economy drone continues. Initial weekly unemployment claims for the week ending on July 14, 2012 were 386,000,. The DOL reports this as an increase of 34,000 from last week's revised figure of 352,000 people filing for unemployment benefits.

Department of Labor gives ripped off employees the brush off, doesn't enforce basic employment law

Do you think we have labor laws and divisions to protect you from outright theft of your wages? Think again.

The GAO investigated the Department of Labor, Wage and Hour division, now under the Obama administration and found the DOL is simply blowing off workers with legitimate complaints on getting ripped off on unpaid wages.

The GAO report, Wage and Hour Division Needs Improved Investigative Processes and Ability to Suspend Statute of Limitations to Better Protect Workers Against Wage Theft, details this investigation.

DOL Jobless claims indicate the U.S. is bleeding jobs

The DOL has released Unemployment weekly claims.

New claims jumped to 667,000. That's just unreal and the increase from last week is 36,000

The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending Feb. 14 was 5,112,000, an increase of 114,000 from the preceding week's revised level of 4,998,000. The 4-week moving average was 4,932,250, an increase of 89,250 from the preceding week's revised average of 4,843,000.

We're bleeding jobs!

We are not hitting the worst rates since 1982 and if anyone recalls this was the time period when interest rates were put on 20% range to stop stagflation, which of course caused an immediate deep recession in the readjustment period.

DOL Labor Secretary Solis on H-1B Guest Worker Visas

Firstly, may I just state that Senator Isakson is spewing pure fiction. The H-1B Visa is called the outsourcing Visa by Indian offshore outsourcers because they are dependent on guest worker Visas to facilitate training of their staff by U.S. workers (who then get fired), and technology transfer. There also is no worker shortage whatsoever of U.S. citizens in these occupational areas. The idea that somehow firing US workers, denying US workers a career and opportunity creates jobs is pure corporate lobbyist spin and is Fictional Employment Theory.

Named DOL Secretary Pushed to Labor Arbitrage U.S. Workers - Congress Rep. Hilda Solis

Ut oh. Obama passed over true middle class advocate, Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro for yet another Corporate H-1B Guest worker Visa pusher.

Solis cosponsored the STRIVE act, the most notorious labor arbitrage bill targeting American workers, especially those in the Professional (STEM, S&T) career areas.
